Pls remember this if you build a B2C saas

If you are building software for consumers e.g., B2C, ask 2 uncomfortable questions first.

Will they pay? Mostly no. Do they want to be productive? Also no.

Consumers (me and you) open an app to relax, to be entertained, to kill ten minutes in a queue after a long working day. An app that asks them to pay money in order to work harder is fighting human nature twice.

Follow who actually pays. In consumer software, the user is not the payer. Ads are the revenue stream: attention is what gets sold, and an advertiser pays for it.

Enterprise is a different business. The company pays employee to make them become productive. The person who buys is not the person who uses, and the buyer pays precisely because productivity is the goal. An employee is paid to use the tool, so "they do not want to be productive" stops being your problem.

To me, the question before pricing anything is which of the two businesses you are in. If your product needs the user to pay and to work, you are asking a consumer to behave like an enterprise. That rarely ends well.
